Richard “Stony” Stone, 55, Imperial
Richard “Stoney” Stone, 55, of Imperial died Jan. 13, 2022. Mr. Stone grew up in the Dogtown area of St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Army as a motor transport operator and was responsible for transporting military members and equipment throughout the battlefield. He served in the Republic of Korea and in Operation Desert Storm. He received Army Achievement and Army Commendation medals. After his honorable discharge in 1993, he worked for trucking companies, including the Bi-State Development Agency for more than 22 years. He was a member of VFW Post 6516 in High Ridge and supported the Patriot Guard as a member of the Statesmen Motorcycle Club and Combat Veteran’s Motorcycle Association 4-4. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors and hunting, and he was an excellent shot, as well as a skilled mechanic. He also liked riding his Harley-Davidson and studying the Civil War and visiting Civil War battlefields. He will be remembered for his beard and smile, along with his kindness, loyalty, generosity and wit. Born Aug. 28, 1966, he was the son of Elaine Jenkins and Jack Stone.
He is survived by his wife: Christina “Krissy” Stone; two sons: Scott (Ashley) Stone and Mike (Diana) Stone; a stepson: Aaron Pratt; a daughter: Jennifer Stone; six stepdaughters: Abby Vaughn, Kelsey, Bethany and Ashley Payne, Pvt. First Class Alexandria Vaughn and Ashley Vaughn; a brother: John Burke; five sisters: Alberta “Cissy” (Keith) Hertel, Terry Mazdra, Julie (Chris) Graef, Stacy (Tim) Neuhaus and Stephanie Stone; three sisters-in-law: Casey Hartley, Kelly Weise and Crickett (Todd) White; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents: Geneva Norweck and MaryJane Maxon; a “bonus mother”: Ann Burke; a mother-in-law: Brenda Weise; and a niece: Natalie Burke.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 23) at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday (Jan. 24) at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. A celebration of life will follow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Arnold VFW Post 2593, 2301 Church Road. The Patriot Guard Riders will lead an escort followed by the Statesmen MC and the Combat Veterans MA 4-4. Attendees are asked to follow protocols to limit the spread of COVID-19 and not attend if sick and wear a mask unless eating or drinking. Memorials may be made to the Missouri National Memorial in Perryville, the Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association Chapter 4-4 or the Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Homes.
