Richard Louis Burke, 83, of Festus died Oct. 3, 2022, at his home. Mr. Burke was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and an assembly line worker for General Motors. He was a master gardener and member of Kress Farm Garden Reserve and enjoyed spending time with family. Born Feb. 18, 1939, in Florissant, he was the son of the late Sylvester L. and Elizabeth M. (Marks) Burke.
He is survived by his wife: Jo Ann (Schmitt) Burke of Festus; a son: Patrick (Robin) Burke of Salado, Texas; a daughter: Amanda (Rocky) Burke-Nichols of St. Peters; a daughter-in-law: Tonia Burke of Manchester; a sister: Delores (the late Carl) Weinman of Florissant; and eight grandchildren: Christopher, Jonathan, Hanna, Phillip, Tyler, Caleb, Jeremiah and Benjamin.
He was preceded in death by a son: Jeff. A. Burke; and three sisters: Helen Burke, Rita Burke and Mildred Tierney.
A private graveside service will take place at Sacred heart Catholic Cemetery in Florissant. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
