Richard Harold Squires, 77, of Festus died Dec. 19, 2019, at his home. Mr. Squires was a retired auto worker and had worked at the Chrysler assembly plant in Fenton. He was a UAW member and a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Festus, where he was an usher. Born Jan. 4, 1942, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Edna (Robinson) and Joseph Squires.
He is survived by his wife: Sally (Warden) Squires of Festus; two daughters: Belinda (Steve) Cornish of Crystal City and Barbara (Paul) Smith of Festus; a son: Dean (Michelle Rhyneer) Squires of Valle Mines; two sisters: Jeanne Lorey of Potosi and Roseanne Callahan of California; a brother: David (Yoshiko) Squires of Azusa, Calif.; four grandchildren: Amanda Cornish, Lauren (Jordan) Peery, Kayla (Anthony) Ortolan and Christina Smith; and four great-grandchildren: Deston Pippin, Justus Smith, Aiden Ortolan and Aubree Ortolan.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Joyce Hurley; and five brothers: Ronald Squires, Bobby Squires, Kenny Squires, Alan Squires and Donald Squires.
Funeral services were today, Dec. 23, at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Jim Waymire. Burial was in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
