Richard Fred Hoffarth Sr., 91, of Antonia died June 30, 2022, at Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County. Mr. Hoffarth served was a farm dairy inspector for St. Louis County, a manager of Jefferson County Water District No. 3 and a courier for Sapaugh Motors. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. Born July 24, 1930, in Antonia, he was the son of the late Louise (Buechting) and Henry Hoffarth.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years: Marie Fern (Ainsley) Hoffarth.

He is survived by a son: Richard Hoffarth Jr. of Antonia; two daughters: Julie (Andy) Odor of Republic and Susan Warrington of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother: Ralph Hoffarth of Imperial; three grandchildren: Lindsay (Josh) Smith, Jaime (Daniel) Black and Jordan (Caitlin) Soong; and seven great-grandchildren: Amelia, Ivy and Owen Smith, Lucille and Naomi Black and Kayden and McKinley Moore.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy (the late Oswald) Steinbach and Fern Keller.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 10, in Antonia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
