Regina Delores McClurg, 102, Jefferson City

Regina Delores McClurg, 102, of Jefferson City died Dec. 12, 2021, at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City. Mrs. McClurg graduated from Moberly High School in 1937 and from Moberly Community College in 1939. She started working in the Marine Hospital in Decatur, Ill., in 1943 while her husband served in the Army. She continued her career for 20 years as a stenographer with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City, where she sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed square dancing and traveling. She also like music, singing and playing the piano. She was a YMCA member and swam a couple of times a week. She was an avid painter and especially liked using acrylics and watercolors. Born Nov. 11, 1919, in Moberly, she was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth (Steinkamp) and Frank Bernard Wegs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Loriston McClurg, whom she married in June 1941.

She is survived by a son: Stephen (Deborah) McClurg of Byrnes Mill; a daughter: Deborah (Jason) Atkinson of Barnett; three grandchildren: Casey (Lisa) McClurg, Nathan (Melissa) Hitt and Logan Hitt; and two great-grandchildren: Tobie and Montana McClurg.

She also was preceded in death by a son: Gregory McClurg; a grandson: Harold Rector; and seven siblings: Mabel Wegs, Helen Wegs, Marie O’Keefe, Loretta David, Emil Wegs, Clarence Wegs and Hildegard Wingfield.

Visitation will be from 10 until the funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 16) at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, with the Rev. Ignitius Nimwesiga officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 2305 W. Main St., Jefferson City, 65109. Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home ub Jefferson City.
