Raymond Thomas “Dutch” Close, 64, De Soto

Raymond Thomas “Dutch” Close, 64, of De Soto died Oct. 9, 2021, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mr. Close worked as a master concrete finisher at M. Jones Enterprises. Born May 21, 1957, in Harrison, Ark., he was the son of Mary J. (Kelley-Williams) and Glen Woodson Close Jr.

He is survived by his wife: Robin (Henry) Close; two children: Jacob (Hannah) Close of Rolla and Elizabeth (Abram) Messer of De Soto; a sibling: Cheryl (the late Ken) Evans of Raytown; and eight grandchildren: Gabriel, Gideon, Grace, Gage, Abigail, Bethany, Jacob Jr. and Levi.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Glen Paul “Butch” Close; and a granddaughter: Ella.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday (Oct. 15) at First Baptist Church on Sandy Church Road in Hillsboro, officiated by Pastor Tom Henry. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
