Philip Charles Govreau Jr., 78, of Festus died June 13, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Govreau was retired from Selma Farms and had formerly worked at River Cement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City and of Knights of Columbus Council 1230. He loved being outside, especially visiting family and neighbors on his Gator rides, and enjoyed talking tractors with his nephew, Nathan, his weekly visits at the McClenahans’ or working in his garden. He was known for his generosity, and would often share his garden’s bounty with those around him and with the Ozark Food Pantry. Born Jan. 10, 1943, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Eva Iona (Akers) and Philip Charles Govreau Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sharon Eileen (Floyd) Govreau.
He is survived by three daughters: Marsha (Donald) Kentch of Festus, Leigh Ann Beaird of Dexter and Carrie (Dave Planitz) Govreau of Granite City, Ill.; three sons: Bryan (Julio) Govreau of St. Louis, Steve (Kim) Govreau of Festus and Andy (Lisa) Govreau of Festus; a brother Robert (Jackie) Govreau of Festus; eight grandchildren: Monica (Jason) Hallquist, Don (Candice) Kentch, Victoria Beaird and Alexis, Spencer, Tatum, Abigail and Mason Govreau; and two great-grandchildren: Aiden and Adelynn Kentch.
He was preceded in death by a son: Kyle Govreau.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 18, at Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, officiated by Father Matthew Cheruparambil. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Ozark Food Pantry. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
