Peggy A. Gibson, 95, of St. Louis County died Aug. 10, 2020, at Bethesda Southgate in St. Louis County. Ms. Gibson was retired after serving as a district manager for Avon for more than 20 years. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter in De Soto. Born Sept. 5, 1924, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Georgia (Dodson) Sweet. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold I. “Ike” Gibson.
She is survived by two sons: Richard “Dick” (Sherry) Gibson of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and David (Dianne) Gibson of Osage Beach; a daughter: Debbie Gibson-Tarlow of Festus; a nephew: Charles “Pooney” Gibson of Osage Beach; a sister: Beverly Sweet of Crystal City; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Sweet of Crystal City and Patricia Sweet of Herculaneum; six grandchildren: Leslie Gibson, Christopher (Christina Selkamo) Gibson, Aaron (Jessica) Tarlow, Olivia (Fred Hamilton) Tarlow, Dylan (Brieanne) Gibson and Alex (Alex Miller) Gibson; and six grandchildren: Venla, Axil, Piper, Freddie, Tristan and Lucy.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and James Sweet.
A private graveside service will take place in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 680 Craig Road, Suite 300, St. Louis, 63141; or to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, 63110. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
