Pauline M. Schlett, 91, of Hillsboro died Sept. 15, 2018, at Festus Manor Nursing Center. Mrs. Schlett was a cashier for Gannon’s Independent Grocers Alliance and later for Brown & Son’s Grocery. She was a member of the International Food and Commercial Workers Local 655 and of First Baptist Church of De Soto. Born March 30, 1927, in Ware, she was the daughter of the late Gladys (Wilson) and Joseph Allen Long.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years: Walter Schlett; three children: Paul (Carrol) Schlett of Hillsboro, Barbara (Warren) Robinson of Mission, Kan., and Ron (Veronica) Schlett of Hillsboro; a brother-in-law: Clifford “Jack” (Margaret) Gannon; two grandchildren: Aaron (Kim) Schlett and Garrett (Stephanie) Schlett; five great-grandchildren: Caitlyn, Ava, Cole, Astyn and Fynn; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Kathleen Gannon and Shirley (Bill) Reed; and two brothers: Wib (Jan) Long and Leo (Anna Lee) Long.
Visitation is at 9 a.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jeremy Muniz. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 50 Crestwood Executive Building 401, St. Louis, 63126; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, 63132.
