Paul Leroy Polette, 94, of St. Charles died Sept. 28, 2022, at Fair Winds – Rivers Edge retirement community in St. Charles. Mr. Polette was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a retired engineering planner for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corp. He was a publisher/distributor for Book Lurs Corp. and a business professor at St. Mary’s College at its former O’Fallon location. He served several terms on the O’Fallon Board of Adjustment and was a former volunteer firefighter with the West Overland Fire Department in St. Louis County. Born Jan. 15, 1928, in Herculaneum, he was the son of the late Stephanie (Justin) and Ferdinand Polette.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy J. (McCaleb) Polette; two daughters: Paula (William) MacMann of Creve Coeur and Marsha (Randy) Baker of St. Charles; a son: Dr. Keith (Agnes) Polette of El Paso, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Pamela Polette; two sisters: Naomi Keller and Jeanette Gerard; and three brothers: Father Ernest “Cletus” Polette, Vincent Polette and Joseph Polette.
A private family service was held Oct. 4 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, officiated by Deacon Glen Politte. Burial with military honors was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Covenant House, 460 West 41st Street, New York, NY 10036. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
