Paul J. Whitter, 87, of De Soto died Sept. 2, 2019, at his home. Mr. Whitter was a retired glass cutter for Pittsburgh Plate Glass and a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed visits to the park, fishing, working on cars and taking care of his yard. Born May 14, 1932, in Tiff, he was the son of the late Stella Mae (Pashia) and Juyel Whitter.
He is survived by his wife: Jean (Cardwell) Whitter; a son: Mark (Carla) Whitter of Valles Mines; three daughters: Sheryl Burroughs of Converse, Ind., Pam (Lindell) Osia of De Soto and Patricia (Louis) LaRose of De Soto; two sisters: Jane Owens of California and Barbara (Russell) Lewis of De Soto; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Larry Whitter and Rick Whitter; two brothers: Johnny and Dale Whitter; three sisters: Rosie Byers, Ruby Byers and Donna Tidwell; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 Main St., in De Soto. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or the De Soto Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
