Patrick Wayne Shelby, 70, of Hillsboro died Aug. 21, 2021, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Shelby was the owner/operator of Shelby Roofing Co. and a member of Arnold Baptist Tabernacle. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Born Nov. 21, 1950, in Carbondale, Ill., he was the son of the late Evelyn (Stacks) and Toliver Shelby.
He is survived by his wife: Beverly “Darlene” (Stone) Shelby; a daughter: Velvet (Chris) Shelby-Youngman of High Ridge; a nephew raised as a son: Chris (Nora) Stone of Hillsboro; a niece raised as a daughter: Sabrina Stone of Hillsboro; a grandson: Seth Shelby-Youngman; a great-niece: Desirae Stone; two great-nephews: Ryan Stone and Christopher Imre; a brother: Mike (Anita) Shelby of Maplewood; and a sister-in-law: Diana Shelby of Hillsboro.
Funeral services and burial were private. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
