Basler, Patrick

Patrick E. Basler, 55, of St. Louis died Dec. 7, 2017. Mr. Baker, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, was employed with General Motors Corp. in Wentzville and was a member of  United Auto Workers Union 2250. He was a passionate Blues Hockey fan and a devoted fisherman who spent every opening day of trout season with childhood friends Mike Ellenberger, Bret Ellis and Roger Morris. He had a knack for one-liners and commonly caught his loved ones off guard with his sense of humor, and cherished every moment with his children and “grandgirls.” Born Sept. 10, 1962, in Festus, he was the son of Beverly (St. Moritz) States of Defuniak Springs, Fla., and the late Michael Basler.

He is survived by his wife: Tina Basler; four daughters: Terrah (fiance Joshua Mayer) Basler of Festus, Ashley (Aaron) White of Park Hills, Katie Basler of Festus and Lindsay Graves of Belleville; a son: Patrick M. (Krystal Jepson) Basler; a brother: Craig (Jennifer) Basler of Ballwin; two sisters: Dana (Craig) Bell of St. Paul, Minn., and Brandi (Daniel) Brechtel of Florida; and four granddaughters: Karlee Dyle, Lacey Mayer, Caroline White and Magnolia White.

He is preceded in death by three grandparents: Oscar Basler and Marceline “Billie” and Allen Minnerly; a granddaughter: Georgia White; and a stepson: Paul E. Graves.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the funeral home, Pastor Dennis Rudnavich officiating. Burial with full military honors is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society or to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
