Orville William Walter, 92, of Hillsboro died Feb. 13, 2022, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Festus. Mr. Walter served in the U.S. Naval Reserves and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely. With his wife, he owned andoperated Blue Diamond Pools in Arnold. Born Feb. 23, 1929, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Jennie (Thomas) and Leonard “Leo” Walter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years: Wilma Alvina (Winheim) Walter.
He is survived by four daughters: Carrie (Michael) Arlt of Hillsboro, Kathleen Maiberger of Redlands, Calif., Lizabeth (Christopher) McSpadden of Park Hills and Julie (Jeff) Debuck of Hillsboro; a son: Steven Walter of Yucatan, Mexico; a brother: Jim (Sharon) Walter of Arnold; a sister: Pat (the late Don) Fabish of Chico, Calif.; eight grandchildren: Candice Walter, Sarah Burton, Adam Maiberger, Caitlin Binkley, Eric Bauer, Joshawa McSpadden, Rebekka McSpadden and Symantha McSpadden; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Friday, Feb. 18, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely, officiated by Pastor Bryan Roberts. Burial is in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 310 Central Ave., Pevely, 63070. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
