Orville Bernard “Obie” O’Brien, 101, of Kansas City, formerly of Festus, died May 4, 2019, at Stonecrest at Burlington Creek in Kansas City. Mr. O’Brien was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. Born March 7, 1918, in Festus, he was the son of the late Emma (Grassman) and Bernard Thomas O’Brien. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years: Wanda Marie (Maurice) O'Brien.
He is survived by a daughter: Judith Ann O'Brien of Alpharetta, Ga.; a son-in-law: Mark Knoeber of Parkville; two nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Kathleen Marie (O'Brien) Knoeber; two brothers: Carlton Perry (the late Delores “Polly”) O'Brien and Allison Francis “Al” (the late Jo) O'Brien.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 10, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Graveside service will follow immediately after at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City, officiated by Deacon Jerry Stoverink. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
