Willard Alonzo “Bill” McCaleb, 89, of De Soto died June 5, 2023, at Cedarhurst in Arnold. Mr. McCaleb was a retired music teacher and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from teaching, he continued to pursue music and entertained in various bands and solo events. Born Oct. 25, 1933, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Alice Isabelle (Colvin) Vinyard and Willard Alphonzo McCaleb. He was preceded in death by his wife: Lois Mae (Brakke) McCaleb.
He is survived by three daughters: Cindy Alvarez of Arnold, Suzy (Mark) Jennings of De Soto and Shari Alvarez of De Soto; a sister: Nancy (the late Paul) Polette of St. Charles; three grandchildren: Derek Woodfin Alvarez, Emily McCullough and Evan Jennings; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Debbie Alvarez; and a brother: Stuart (the late Bette, Edith survives of Festus) McCaleb.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 9-10 a.m. Monday, June 26, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. A graveside service will follow in the Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home
