Mary Veronica Dunn, 93, of Pevely died July 26, 2023, at her home. Mrs. Dunn was the co-owner/operator of Dunn’s Sporting Goods in Pevely. She was a member of the former Assumption Catholic Church in Herculaneum and a current member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus. Born Jan. 2, 1930, in St. Charles, she was the daughter of the late Margaret M. (Reagan) and Frederick Bextermiller. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years: George A. Dunn.
She is survived by nine children: Ronald J. (Rita) Dunn of St. Louis County, David E. (Sheldon Ross) Dunn of Hillsboro, Dennis M. (Elizabeth) Dunn of Marion, Ill., Jeannette L. (Robert) Hanewinkel of Festus, Dean W. (Mary) Dunn of Festus, Steven E. (Kay) Dunn of Hillsboro, Irene (Robert) Laiben of Bloomsdale, Dale J. (Monika Linderer) Dunn of Pevely and Denise M. (Scott) Dix of Festus; a brother: Charles (Joan) Bextermiller of Wentzville; 27 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Alice (the late Cecil) Cook and Anna Bextermiller.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 31, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W Main, in Festus. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Michael Lydon. Burial is in the Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Herculaneum. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
