Howard Ray Inman, 92, of Park Hills died March 30, 2023, in Park Hills. Mr. Inman worked in public education for 33 years, first teaching in a rural one-room schoolhouse where he was the only teacher and often bus driver. He taught English and history, coached volleyball, was the principal of Athena Elementary School and retired as transportation coordinator for the De Soto School District. He served for 20 years in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Masons and Shriners as well as the United Methodist Church. He was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Poplar Bluff, the son of the late Eunice (Rowland) and Clyde Inman.

He is survived by his wife: Candy (Hutson) Inman; three children: Douglas (Tammy) Inman of Festus, Mathew (Kim) Inman of St. Peters and Andrew (Abby) Inman of Park Hills; four siblings: Mary (Chuck) Burris of St. Louis and Ruth Ann Knodell, Hughey (Sue) Inman and Dewey (Jamie) Inman, all of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren: Tara Travers and Jason, Kyle, Callahan, Alex and Alyssa Inman.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother: Donald Inman; and his sister: Betty Inman.

A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Horton-Wampler Funeral Home, 1 Federal Park Ave., in Park Hills, immediately followed by funeral services. Arrangements are under the direction of Horton-Wampler Funeral Home.
