Gwendolyn C. Scott, 78, of De Soto died July 30, 2023, at her home. Mrs. Scott retired from the Walmart Supercenter in Festus/Crystal City. Born Jan. 15, 1945, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Alvin “Glen” and Gladys (Rogers) Watson.
She is survived by her partner: Fred D. Mayfield of De Soto; three children: Amy Scott of Imperial, William Scott of Caseyville, Ill., and Lance Scott of St. Ann; a stepdaughter: Rochelle Bringer of Crystal City; a brother: Jim Watson of De Soto; five grandchildren: Elizabeth (Bryan) Jones, Blake Ball, Haley Reid, Casey Reid and Melody Reid; and 10 great-grandchildren: Amelia Boothe, Austin Jones, Alexandria Jones, Caleb Bringer, Grayson Bringer, Sophia Bringer, Wesley Scott, Aayla Reid, Charlotte Reid and Keegan Ball. She was preceded in death by a son: Keith Scott; and three brothers: Gary, Alvin and Tim Watson.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
