William Harold ‘Bill’ Senter Jr., 74, of Verona died April 25, 2024, at his home. Mr. Senter was a 1968 graduate of Herculaneum High School. After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was a diesel mechanic for many years and retired from EFCO after 19 years. On April 26, 2001, he married Lea Ann in Eureka Springs, Ark. He loved being outdoors and spending time on his farm. He often could be found muzzleloader shooting, deer hunting, fishing and spending time with family at the lake house. He also enjoyed hanging out with his good friend, Rick. Mr. Senter was a member of the NRA, Moto Guzzi Club, American Legion in Monett and Jaycees in Monett. He also was a lifetime member of the Monett Rifle Club. Born Aug. 16, 1949, he was the son of the late Jeanette (O'Hanlon) and Bill Senter Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Lea Ann Senter; two daughters: Heather (Jeff) Martin of Viola and Bridgette (Mitch) Jenkins of Mt. Vernon; a stepson: Jeff (Jerry Kerperien) Brattin of Monett; a special friend who was like a brother: Rick (Linda) Slinkard of Fredericktown; five grandchildren: Brian (Jadeth) Jenkins, Brianna (Kyle) Thomas, Cody Jenkins, Jayme Eubanks and William Phillips; four great-grandchildren: Gabby Thomas, Lydia Hammons, Samuel Hammons and Adalynd Hammons; a great-grandchild on the way; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Peggy Moore.
Visitation is scheduled from noon until a funeral service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Lakin Funeral Home, 501 N. Elm St., in Pierce City, officiated by Chaplain Michael. Burial will follow in Spring River Cemetery in Verona. Arrangements are under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home.
