Kunz, William

William Frank Kunz, 82, of St. Louis died Sept. 6, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Kunz graduated from Western Military Academy in 1962 and went on to become the founder and owner of Wilnor Hunt Club. He enjoyed being outdoors, dogs and horses. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling to new destinations and making friends and connections through his passions. He was known as a good man, a dog whisperer and a great businessman, who loved spending time with his family. Born on Feb. 11, 1943, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Helen and Norman Kunz.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Janice Kunz, whom he married on June 29, 1999; two sons: Brian (Brenda) Mixon of West Frankfort, Ill., and Greg (Lisa) Mixon of Wilmington, N.C.; five grandchildren: Travis (Erica) Kellenberger, Kimberly (Derrick) Johnson, Clinton (Lauren) Mixon, Josh (Haley) Mixon and Anna (Chad) Felton; and 12 great-grandchildren: Taylor Johnson, Brock Johnson, Caroline Mixon, Crew Kellenberger, Kate Kellenberger, Owen Mixon, Bryson Mixon, Roman Mixon, Tripp Mixon, Magnolia Johnson, Ivy Mixon and Turner Felton; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Norbert Kunz.

A memorial service is scheduled for noon Saturday, Sept. 20, at Wilnor Hunt Club, 9298 Hwy. WW, in Dittmer. Members, family and friends are welcome. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary Robert Brown Chapel.
