William E. Long, 94, of De Soto died Jan. 9, 2025, in Crystal City. Mr. Long was a salesman for Tastykake Co. for 30 years and the Wonder Bread Co. for 10 years before retiring. He was a proud Eagle Scout, as well as a member of the Amvets and the American Legion and a former member of the National Guard. Born Jan. 6, 1931, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Pauline (Stroup) and George Long.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Rose Marie Long.
He is survived by a son: Robert Long of De Soto.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at noon Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Mahn Funeral Home De Soto Chapel, 900 N. Main St., officiated by Pastor Ryan Sutton. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the De Soto Public Library, 712 S. Main St., in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
