Wayne Warren Petry, 60, of Cedar Hill died March 22, 2026. Mr. Petry grew up as the youngest of four siblings and loved hunting and the outdoors. In high school, he served as a volunteer firefighter with High Ridge Fire Department, and after high school, he graduated from Bailey Technical School. He worked a career as a machinist and engineer and retired from Custom Machine Works in 2023. Known as a supportive father, he coached baseball and basketball, taught his sons to hunt and fish. He loved providing for and spending time with his family, especially his wife, and enjoyed making her laugh. He also loved being a “Pawpaw” to his three grandchildren. Most of all, he loved Jesus and sharing his faith with others. Born Aug. 28, 1965, in St. Louis, he was the son of Elaine (O’Cheskey) Petry of High Ridge and the late Julius Petry.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Mindy (Hudson) Petry; three sons, Adam (Stephanie) Petry, Andy (Julia) Petry and Alexander Petry; three grandchildren: Travis Petry, Harper Petry and Hudson Petry; three siblings: Ron Petry of Cedar Hill, Joe (Beth) Petry of Hillsboro and Barb Petry of St. James; a sister-in-law: Chris (Tim) Evans; two nieces: Jessica (Keith) Zimmerman and Stephanie (Garrett) Lehman; three nephews Jeff (Alysha) Petry, K.J. (Brittanie) Petry and Tyler Evans; and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Thomas Hudson; and a grandmother-in-law: Dorothy Hudson.
A memorial service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Spring Hills Presbyterian Church, 6247 Upper Byrnes Mill Road, in Byrnes Mill, 63051. Flowers are to be sent to the church, or memorial donations may be made to Blood Cancer United at bloodcancerunited.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill.
