Wanda R. (Cain) Alford, 82, of Bloomsdale died Feb. 14, 2024, in Festus. Mrs. Alford was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Festus for 58 years. For 30 years, she fulfilled various roles in the church, including bus ministry, daycare, the Twin City Christian Academy and Living Springs camp. She enjoyed thrifting and refinishing furniture and is remembered for her sharp wit. Born Nov. 12, 1941, in Poplar Bluff, she was the daughter of the late Verna (Richmond) and Gilbert "Gib" Cain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years: M. Gene Alford.
She is survived by three children: Rick (Kari) Alford, Jerry (Julie) Alford and Patty (Rodney Kyle) Guay; five grandchildren: Justin (Amber) Alford, Samantha (Aaron) Colwell, Ereca Alford, Cody Guay and Dylan (Ricki Jones) Guay; and 10 great-grandchildren: Brendon Bova, Gabe Bova, Collin Alford, Julian Alford, Aiden Alford, Addison Alford, Reagan Colwell, Noah Colwell, Ellinore Colwell and Anja Colwell.
Visitation is scheduled from 9-10 a.m. for the family, and 10-11 a.m. for the public, Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the Second Baptist Church, 723 Horine Road, in Festus. Funeral services will follow immediately after. Graveside services will follow at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
