Virginia D. Meshell, 74, of Festus died Feb. 28, 2026, in Crystal City. Mrs. Meshell loved creating crafts, especially working with beads, and could often be found with a good book in hand or enjoying her favorite television programs. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, creative heart and the love she shared with others. Born May 31, 1951, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late George Cook and Eva (Dufour) Cook.
She is survived by her husband: Andrew Meshell Sr. of Festus; a son: Andrew (Rhonda) Meshell Jr. of Dayton, Ken.; a daughter: Lisa Overby of Crocker; eight stepchildren: Ronald Meshell of Oroville, Calif., Michael (Laura) Meshell of Oroville, Calif., Kenneth Meshell of St. Louis, Russell Meshell of Columbiaville, Mich., Julie (Randy) Young of Montgomery, Carolyn Gibson of Newport, Ken., Maria (Steve) Webber of Mount Vernon, Ill., and Laura Balinski of Branch, Mich.; a sister: Linda Dixon of Missouri; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Charles Cook; and two sisters: Georgia Smith and Brenda Sullins.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Ryan Sutton. Interment will be in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, 63108, or at cancer.org.
