Velna Ilene (Wyatt) Crouthers, 86, of Festus died June 28, 2025. Mrs. Crouthers was a first and second grade teacher for the Fox C-6 School District. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, ceramics, teaching Sunday School, singing in her church choir at the First Baptist Church of Herculaneum-Pevely and spending time with her family. Born Sept. 8, 1938, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Annie (Jones) and Fred Wyatt.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Bill Crouthers.
She is survived by two daughters: Arlen (Garry) Hinch of Vancouver, Wash., and Janet Politte of Festus; a sister: Connie (Bill) Quesinberry of Forest Hill, Md.; four grandchildren: Rachael Laplant, Erin Hasty, Caitlin Ferguson and Kerry Hinch; 10 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Adrian, Eva, Lizzie, Liam, Emma, Sophia, Carson, Eric and Heidi; and numerous family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at noon Thursday, July 3, at First Baptist Church of Herculaneum-Pevely, 1315 Abbey Lane, in Pevely, officiated by Jeff Purvis. Burial will follow in the Sandy Baptist Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to The Collins House, 102 Collins Drive, Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
