Troy S. Aye, 55, of Swansea, Ill., died Feb. 15, 2025, in St. Louis. Mr. Aye grew up in Belleville, Ill., and graduated from Belleville West High School. He then attended Belleville Beauty Academy and SWIC. He worked as a hairdresser for many years in Belleville and Florida. He loved going on adventures and was a true thrill seeker. He was known as a naturally friendly person who never met a stranger and enjoyed striking up a conversation with anyone. Also known for his intelligence, he knew things without studying the subject and often impressed family and friends with this quality. He will be remembered for his bright smile and devotion to his family and friends. Born Jan. 20, 1970, in Belleville, Ill., he was the son of William E. Aye Jr. and the late Wendy (Steiner) Aye.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife: Jennifer Kennedy; two children: Lauren Lafollette and Tanner Backhus; three stepchildren: Joseph Zavadil, Maranda Lindsey and Monique Lindsay; two brothers: William Aye and Gary Aye; a sister: Cindy Aye; 11 grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: William E. Aye Sr. and Emma Aye; his maternal grandparents: Arthur and Doris (Myer) Steiner; a stepson: Harley Gene Zavadil; and many aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Dutch Hollow Barn, 533 Dutch Hollow Road, in Belleville, Ill. Those in attendance are encouraged to bring a dish if possible. Arrangements are under the direction of Hoffen Funeral in Millstadt, Ill.
