
Timothy Edward Shelley, 74, of Festus died Sept. 6, 2025, at his home. Mr. Shelley worked as a painter/insulator for Monsanto and Mallinckrodt Corp. Outside of work, he found joy in hunting and fishing, dining out and having lunch at the park with his wife. He loved visiting Walmart to pick ingredients for the meals he enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He was known for having a gift of conversation and for never meeting a stranger. He was a faithful lifelong Christian. Born Jan. 8, 1951, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Jim Medley and Bettye Jean (Sutton) Avery. He was the stepson of the late Jack Avery.
He is survived by his wife: Kathy (Passet) Shelley of Festus; two daughters: Brooke Catherine (Clint) Portell of Festus and Dionna Marie (Gabe) Portell of Farmington; two sisters-in-law: Carol Jo Shelley of Pevely and Donna Kay Owens of Festus; a brother-in-law: Todd Mahn of De Soto; his mother-in-law: Catherine “Pooch” Mahn of De Soto; five grandchildren: Baylee and Jenna Portell, Madax Timothy, Kingston, and Mya Portell; two step-grandchildren: Lillian and Mason; two pets: Tobi and Ellie; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Tom and Bernice “Mamie” Shelley; two sons: Ryan Ashley Shelley and Bryce Aaron Shelley; a brother: James David Shelley; a sister: Linda Jean Sidman; and two brothers-in-law: James Carroll “Jim” Owens and Terry Ray Passet.
Visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. Services will be private, and interment will be in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
