
Tammy S. Pona, 56, of De Soto died Sept. 15, 2025. Ms. Pona was a registered nurse and previously served as director of nursing at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto, where she was especially skilled in supporting and comforting those in hospice care and their family and friends. Born March 26, 1969, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Kenneth (Renee) Biggers of Farmington and the late Sue (Nash) Biggers.
She is survived by three children: Ashley Pona of New York, N.Y., Samuel (Stephanie) Pona II of Festus and Alexis (Dylan McCarthy) Pona of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a sibling: Michael (Tammy) Biggers of Bonne Terre; grandchildren: Nash Pona, Keely McCarthy and one on the way; and the father of her children: Sam Pona of South Mills, N.C.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Michelle Biggers.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 5 p.m. until services at 7 p.m. today, Sept. 22, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Deacon Ed Boyer. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
