Sylvia M. Duffner, 85, of De Soto died July 22, 2026, at Stonebridge Senior Living in De Soto. Mrs. Duffner taught elementary school for more than 30 years, retiring as a kindergarten teacher from Sunrise School. She was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and a member of Circle No. 659 Daughters of Isabella and the Columbia Ann’s. She also volunteered at the De Soto Food Pantry. Born April 25, 1941, in Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Assunta Conte.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Daniel Duffner.
She is survived by two children: Chris (Diane) Duffner of Festus and Aleen (Jason) Davis of De Soto; five grandchildren: Gino (Ashley) Duffner, Justin (Jaclyn) Duffner, Marina (Matt) Sarkissian, Nicholas Davis and Gabriella Davis; and five great-grandchildren: Cody, Cameron, Charlotte, Nora and Clay.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters: Theresa (Salvatore) Armerino and Mary (Joe) Conte.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
