Altom, Steve

Steve “Dale” Altom, 66, of Dittmer died Feb. 17, 2025. Mr. Altom was known for his craftmanship and enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed working on and restoring vehicles, attending church and spending time with family and friends. Born July 7, 1958, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late William and Carrie L. (Wise) Altom.

He is survived by a daughter: Alicia Findley of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren: Cameron Findley, Jordan Findley and Teagan Findley; a great-grandson: Colten Findley; and six siblings: Richard (Linda) Winslow of South Haven, Mich., Debra Terry of Watervliet, Robert (Lowenda) Altom of Hartfort, Mich., June Altom of Colma, Mich., Jeff (Stephanie) Altom of Roanoke, Va., and Nancy (Floyd) Winslow of St. Joseph, Mich.

He was preceded in death by five siblings: Floyd Winslow, Ruthann Neeley, Sharon Tunstill, Pauline Morris and Mary Locke.

A graveside service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 10, in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. One memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 66325 M 152, in Dowagiac, Mich. Another memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Cedar Hill Lutheran Church, 8600 Silver Lane, in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill.
