Sterling “Ray” Weiss, 87, of Festus died Dec. 22, 2024, at Scenic Nursing Center in Herculaneum. Mr. Weiss was a retired truck driver for Truck Transport Co. in south St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of the American Legion 253 and the Festus-Crystal City Conservation Club. Born Dec. 28, 1936, in Elvins, he was the son of the late Lydia (Burch) and Henry Weiss.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Esther L. (Garrett) Weiss.
He is survived by three daughters: Stephanie (Bob) Noce of Bloomsdale, Lisa (Randy) Ramey of Festus and Dana (the late Danny) DeRousse of Festus; a son: Scott (Lynn) Weiss of Festus; two sisters: Paulette (Roger) Barton of Festus and Marie Weiss of Farmington; seven grandchildren: Steven Gerard, Kasey (Greg) Robinson, James (Nikki) Weiss, Kelli (Chris) Rapp, Chris (Ellen) Ramey, Joe Ramey and Lauren (Kyle) Dawidowski; and several great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by four brothers: Sonny (the late Ann) Weiss, Virgil (Mickey survives) Weiss, Bud (the late Martha) Weiss and Gene (the late Shirley) Weiss; and a granddaughter: Melissa DeRousse.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, in the Festus Presbyterian-Methodist Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
