Stephen “John” Carroll, 62, of De Soto died Dec. 4, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Carroll worked as a printer for Arnold Printing, Swift Printing and Concordia Publishing. He also was a mechanic for Cyclone Car Care and most recently worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation. Born July 2, 1963, in Cape Girardeau, he was the son of the late James Lee and Margaret Ann (Dowds) Carroll.
He is survived by his wife: Kathleen (nee Holcomb) Craig of De Soto; three children: Jeanette (Scott) Rice of Plato, Christine (Breydon Schneider) Carroll of De Soto and Emma (Dion Fortier) Snider of Festus; 10 grandchildren: Gavin, Tyler, Gavin, Nicholas, Lorelei, Mason, Davey, Castiel, Silas and Rosabelle; a brother: James (Vicky) Carroll of Cape Fair; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Patricia Haste.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 1 p.m. until a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
