Stella Ernestine “Ernie” Emily, 85, of De Soto died April 14, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Emily worked in home health. She loved her dogs. She enjoyed taking rides, going out with her family, sticking her toes in a creek, collecting rocks that remind her of her many adventures and being outside in the sunshine. Born Aug. 10, 1940, in Tiff, she was the daughter of the late Sydney O’Shia and Emma (Boyer) O’Shia-Marks.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Nelson Emily Jr.
She is survived by three children: Dewayne (Sheila) Emily of De Soto, Annette (Gene) Harris of De Soto and Jeff Emily of De Soto; a sibling: Lavern Kane of Lemay; three grandchildren: Brandy (Shawn) Koch, Jeanette Emily and Tara (Allen) Russell; and three great-grandchildren: Owen Koch, Jayden Hancock and Drake Koch.
She also was preceded in death by seven brothers: Leroy O’Shea, Charles O’Shea, Joe O’Shea, Howard O’Shea, Billy O’Shea, Gary Marks and John Marks; and four sisters: Marcella “Leat” Levall, Jean Stevens, Mary L. Huskey and Odette Boning.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
