Schwing, Stanley

Stanley R. “Stan” Schwing, 92, of St. Louis, formerly of Eureka, died March 5, 2026. Mr. Schwing was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Eureka, where he sang hymns, attended Bible study and attended the monthly Supper Club. He enjoyed riding bicycles, staying active and being at his lake house at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he would relax on the dock, boat and enjoy the beauty of the water. He had a successful career and, in his retirement, enjoyed sitting on the front porch in Hoene Springs with his wife and reading a book or spending the afternoon watching football. Most of all, he loved spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born Dec. 6, 1933, in Valmeyer, Ill., he was the son of the late Edward and Lillian (Cobb) Schwing.

He is survived by his wife: Alice (Kaegel) Cartwright-Schwing; a son: Todd Schwing; a daughter-in-law: Brenda Schwing-Triplette; two stepchildren: Steven (Terry) Cartwright and Sheri (Ed) Haas; a sister: Mary (Ron) Trimmer; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son: Carl Schwing; and a sister: Janette Marxkors.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 500 Meramec Blvd., in Eureka, 63025. Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill.
