Sonny Bax, 79, of De Soto died Dec. 10, 2024. Mr. Bax worked as a contractor and truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Amvets Post 48. Born Oct. 22, 1945, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Herman A. and Bertha M. (Ziegelmeier) Bax.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Phillis Darlene (Voyles) Bax.
He is survived by two children: Paul (Diane) Bax of Lee’s Summit and Michelle (Mikeal) Lashbrook of Evansville, Ind.; six siblings: Dorothy “Dot” Schneider, Lawrence Bax, Diane Coleman, Joseph Bax, Herman Bax and Pauline Brockes Vasey; 11 grandchildren: Zachary (Caitlyn) Bax, Megan (Christian) Tindall, Cody (Sarah) Staffelbach, Courtney (Kyle) Westby, Cameron Lashbrook, Madison Lashbrook, Gene Thompson, Alishia (Samantha) Thompson, Sammy Jo (Joe) Travis, Brandon (Kelsey) Massey and James (Catherine) Massey; and several great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by two daughters: Connie Guthrie and Christina Massey; a sister: Cathy Wright; and one grandson: David Thompson.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by Rob Owens. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
