Shirley J. Halbert, 87, of De Soto died Dec. 7, 2024, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mrs. Halbert worked as a bookkeeper at a nursing home. Born Jan. 13, 1937, in Flat River, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Irene (Burcham) Holdman.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Paul Halbert.
She is survived by three children: Kathy (Paul) Russell of Festus, Terry (Robin) Halbert Sr. of St. Mary’s and Jeff (Paula) Halbert of De Soto; a sibling: Jim Holdman of Caledonia, Mo.; six grandchildren: Steven (Hope) Russell, Tiffany Russell, Terry Halbert Jr., Angel Halbert, Ashley (Martin “B.J.”) Krewson and Morgan (Travis) Goldsberry; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a sister: Velma Williams; and two brothers: Leroy and Raymond Holdman.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Brad Delaughter. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church-De Soto Building Fund or Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
