Huber, Shirley

Shirley Ann (Nauman) Huber, 87, of Denver, Colo., formerly of De Soto, died Oct. 30, 2025, in Wheat Ridge, Colo. Mrs. Huber was known for her kindness, creativity and love for her family. She advanced to the next grade twice during her Elementary School years. She graduated from Normandy High School in St. Louis at the age of 16. During her high school years, she enjoyed taking dance courses to strengthen her back, which was heavily affected by scoliosis. She met her husband at the age of 18 and they married in 1955. She and George shared a passion for music and dancing, often dancing the Jitterbug.

After high school, she was one of the first computer operators at General Motors in St. Louis. She then spent years working in the banking industry while raising a growing family. Following the family’s move to De Soto, where she and George built a home on several acres of land, she worked in the library at Athena Elementary School and took night courses to learn shorthand. She then began work as a legal assistant for a law firm in Hillsboro. However, her favorite career role was her final position in the Continuing Education Department at Jefferson College, where she assisted residents in Jefferson County in learning skills and seeking placement in new careers.

She and George loved bowling with friends and were part of a bowling league for several years. She also enjoyed crafting, creating ceramic art and quilts, reading, shopping with friends, taking care of her home and property, playing cards, getting her hair cut and fixed and listening to live music, especially while attending the numerous concerts of both her sons.

After her husband’s death, Mrs. Huber moved to Colorado to be near her son and son-in-law and enjoyed the mountains, weather and a host of new friends. Born Sept. 3, 1938, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Thomas and Ann Nauman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years: George Huber.

She is survived by her three children: Patricia Johnson of Texas, Charles Huber of Missouri and Joseph Huber of Colorado; a brother: Thomas Nauman; and many other family members and friends.
