Sherry Lynn Hammer, 48, of Union died April 2, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Ms. Hammer loved hunting for arrowheads and spending time with her friends on the river. Her closest companion was her dog, Diesel. She enjoyed being a helping hand to those in need and was known to make friends wherever she went. Born Aug. 28, 1975, in Washington, she was the daughter of Judy Irene (Wall) Donner of Union and Gary George Hammer. She was the stepdaughter of the late Brian Donner.
In addition to her mother and father, she is survived by a daughter: Celeste Ellen Bays of Union; a granddaughter: Lexuss Pedrotti of Union; three brothers: James (Cris) Brown of Stanton, Rick (DeeDee) Brown of Union and Dale (Diane) Brown of St. Clair; two sisters: Lisa (Charles) Pruett of Union and Dena (Craig) Toth of Washington; an uncle: Clyde Wall of Union; four close friends: Steve Bollinger, Matt Velasco, Alizabeth Reed and Sherry McCormick; and many other family members and friends.
Ms. Hammer's daughter: Kayla Irene Epple-Inman, died a week after her mother did.
Ms. Hammer was preceded in death by a brother: David Brown; a sister: Buffy Hammer; a great-grandmother: Lola Yeary; a grandmother: Esther Wall; three uncles: Charles Wall, Clifford Wall and William Wall; and two aunts Eunice Duncan and Ruthie Duncan.
A celebration of life with a barbecue and lantern release is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at 8066 Riverview Drive, in Dittmer.
