Sharon E. Gibbons Vance, 78, of De Soto died May 29, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Ms. Vance attended De Soto schools. She was a legal secretary and paralegal for several Hillsboro legal firms after working for the federal government immediately after school. In retirement, she found joy in working at the De Soto Library. Her favorite day was Cat in the Hat Day. She especially enjoyed European travel with her family. She was a member of De Soto Christian Church and enjoyed the company of many friends until the recent failure of her health. Sharon loved attending the festivals in Kimmswick and weekends in Branson. She will be remembered for always laughing. Born Sept. 28, 1945, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late David Franklin and June (Cramer) Gibbons.
She is survived by two children: Erich (Gail) Jett of De Soto and Randal (Jewelene) Jett of Lake St. Louis; a sibling: Sandy (Robert) LaRouche of St. Louis; a grandson: Nickolas Holman; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, at the funeral home, officiated by Matt Sutman. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice that serves children or animals. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
