Shorney, Sandra

Sandra Gail (Polley) Shorney, 84, of Villa Ridge died Feb. 21, 2024. Mrs. Shorney was a 1957 graduate of Roosevelt High School. She retired from the insurance industry as a licensed broker. She was a member of the Louisiana Purchase Chapter Daughter of the American Revolution in De Soto and served as chapter registrar for 10 years. She was a founding member of the Jefferson County Charter Committee and was one of fourteen members of the Jefferson County Charter Commission that drafted the current Charter Government of the County. She was recognized and awarded the Community Service Award by the National Daughters of the American Revolution for her work in changing the government of Jefferson County to a chartered county. Born March 7, 1939, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Flora (Frederick) and Lee B. Polley.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 23 years: Robert Lee; and her second husband of 33 years: Kenneth Shorney.

She is survived by two sons: John Forrest Lee of Villa Ridge and Christopher G. Lee of Parkers Prairie, Minn.; a stepson: Kevin Shorney of Indianapolis, Ind.; two grandchildren: Bryan (Brandi) Lee and Brittney (Jake) Boone; and two great-grandchildren: Tristan and Viola.

She also was preceded in death by a grandchild: Jordan Lee.

A memorial gathering is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Schrader Funeral Home, 108 N. Central Ave., in Eureka. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
