Schardan, Ronald

Ronald Schardan, 85, of Hillsboro died March 25, 2026, at his home. Mr. Schardan was a science teacher of 34 years in the Melville School District and science department chair for 20 years. He pastored the youth group at Parkton Assembly for many years and later taught Sunday School at First Baptist in De Soto until his passing. He was an avid fisherman, accomplished gardener and a lawn mower supreme. He will be remembered for being willing to lend a helping hand to the people he met, striving to bring happiness to the people around him, especially his family. Born Oct. 5, 1940, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late John Henry and Rose (Schumacher) Schardan.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Danielle (Nichoalds) Schardan of Hillsboro; two children: Stacey (David) Endebrock of Kalispell, Mont.,  and Scott (Melissa) Schardan of Oakville; three grandchildren: Zoe Schardan, Grace Schardan and Jamie (Josh) Frank; three great-grandchildren: Marian, Olivia and Isla Frank; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by two siblings: James Schardan and Henry “Babe” Schardan.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday, March 30, at First Baptist Church of De Soto, 2000 Grace Way, officiated by the Rev. Gene Smith. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Lemay. Memorials may be made to My Life Medical & Resource Center, 5632 Gravois Road, House Springs, 63051. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
