Robert Francis “Bob” O’Rourke Sr., 84, of Advance died May 8, 2025. Mr. O’Rourke enjoyed living a simple life, often going hunting, fishing and playing the occasional card or pool game. He loved watching old Western movies and TV shows and spending time with his grandchildren. He and his great-granddaughter, Charley Lane, enjoyed riding on their mule and taking care of the chickens. He will be remembered for greeting others with a big smile and for lending a helping hand to those in need. Born April 9, 1941, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Bernard and Lucile (Schmees) O’Rourke.
He is survived by five children: Cindy (Rick) Edminston, Betty (Tim) Hill, Wanda Pine, Shari (Jeffrey) Dinkins and Robert (Melinda “Linnie”) O’Rourke; 20 grandchildren: Amy, Crystal, Jodie, Chad, Zoey, Marlee, Noah, Serina, Stephanie, Cassie, Timothy “Tim” Jr., Haley, Cody, Dalton, Holley, Jaxon, Jameson, Erika, Ashley and Danielle; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild and three more on the way; seven siblings: James (Dianne) O'Rourke, Rose (Mark) Arthur, Thomas O'Rourke, Mary Beth Siebert, Michael O'Rourke, Cathy (Glenn) Otto and Patsy Lawson; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral ceremony at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
