Robert F. Christopher, 70, of De Soto died March 14, 2024, at his home. Mr. Christopher worked at Maverick Tube before leaving for the Chrysler Automobile Assembly Plant in Fenton, where he retired as a millwright. For the last 12 years, he had worked as a funeral assistant and driver for Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home. He was a member of the United Auto Workers. He also was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Elks 689, both of which he volunteered for. He enjoyed camping, kayaking, fishing, hunting and working around his home. Born May 20, 1953, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Nadine (Harston) and Sidney Christopher.
He is survived by his wife: Cindy (Whaley) Christopher; three children: Julie (David) White of Purcell, Okla., James Christopher of Oakland, Calif., and Mike (Kayla) Christopher of Crystal City; two grandchildren: Brooks White and Ben Christopher; four siblings: Rebecca “Becky” (Wayne) Bliss of De Soto, the Rev. Father Patrick Christopher of St. Louis, Tim (Colleen) Christopher of O’Fallon and Tom (Connie) Christopher of De Soto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Ronald Christopher.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Father Patrick Christopher and Father Jeff Maassen. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to Adopt-An-Angel, courtesy of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
