Robert Eugene “Bob” Eisenbeis, 92, of Troy died July 27, 2025, at his home. Mr. Eisenbeis received an education up to the eighth grade. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He married Jo-Ann Lois McCreary on June 23, 1956, and shared 56 years of marriage until her death on September 21, 2012. He spent much of his working career as a truck driver for waste management, where he would eventually retire and twice received awards for being Driver of the Year. He was an avid volunteer in his community and could be found volunteering for Meals on Wheels, as well as driving the bus for St. Alphonsus School. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Parish and served as a former grand knight for the St. Alphonsus Knights of Columbus, where he dedicated countless hours to the parish and its many fundraisers. He also was a member of the Quail River Horseshoe Club. Born Oct. 26, 1932, in Jennings, he was the son of the late Edgar and Adelia (Roush) Eisenbeis.
He is survived by his wife: Sandra Kay (Rogers) Eisenbeis of Troy, whom he married on Jan. 3, 2015; a daughter: Debra (Dave) Stout; two sons: Gary Eisenbeis and Steven (Debbie Babb) Eisenbeis; a brother: Norwin (Carol) Eisenbeis; a sister: Gerry (George) Sachs; three stepchildren: Mike (Melissa) McCreary, Daniel (Jill) McCreary and Tina (Mike) Irlander; grandchildren: Tricia (John), Marie (Wayne), Robby (Elisha), Eddie, Mathew, Mallory Curtis, Jennifer (Nick), Helen (Jeff) and Jeremy; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Karen Pentz and Janet Eisenbeis; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by a son: John Eisenbeis; brothers Milt (Marianne) Eisenbeis, Victor (Aurie) Eisenbeis, Paul (Lucy) Eisenbeis, Harold (Rose) Eisenbeis and Kermit Eisenbeis; a sister: Doris Eisenbeis; four brothers-in-law: Bobby Pentz, Leroy McCreary, Richard McCreary and James McCreary.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. today, July 30, at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home and Crematory, 11 South First St., in Silex. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 29 St. Alphonsus Road, in Millwood. Pallbearers will be Robby Brake, Matthew Eisenbeis, Curtis Eisenbeis, Daniel McCreary, Michael McCreary and Wayne Morris. Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus School or Community Opportunities in Troy. Arrangements are under the direction of Bibb-Veach Funeral Home and Crematory.
