Robert Eckenfels, 63, of Ste. Genevieve died Aug. 22, 2025. Mr. Eckenfels was a member of Ste. Genevieve Soil and Water Conservation, the Ste. Genevieve Levee District and a board member at MRV Banks. A fifth-generation farmer, he took pride in passing his legacy of farming on to his son. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with Rhonda and friends, farming and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Born July 10, 1962, he was the son of the late Dorothy M. (Giesler) and Gilbert H. Eckenfels.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Susan (Tucker) Eckenfels.
He is survived by a special friend: Rhonda Seiter Speer; four children: Michelle Champion, Kayla Gegg, Matthew (Emily) Eckenfels and Emily (Josh) Humbolt; seven siblings: Tom Eckenfels, Kathy (Norm) Cavaletti, Dottie Heller, Mary (Mike) Stuhr, Carolyn (Jerry) Kuehn, Jean (Jeff) Spraul and Barb (Steve) Schilli; five grandchildren: Leah Champion, Maci Champion, Evan Gegg, William Gegg and Ava Humbolt; and a baby Eckenfels on the way.
He also was preceded in death by a brother: Carl Eckenfels.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Basler Funeral Home, 685 Center Dr., in Ste. Genevieve. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11824 Zell Road, in St. Genevieve. Burial will be at the Eckenfels Family Farm in Zell. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Basler Funeral Home.
