Nanney, Robert

Robert August Nanney, 82, of Festus died April 12, 2026, at his home. Mr. Nanney was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City and a retired systems analyst with Union Pacific Railroad. He was a graduate of Valle High School in Ste. Genevieve and was an avid follower of their football teams. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of American Legion Post 253 and Knights of Columbus Council 1230 and was honored as a past Missouri State Knight of the Year. Born Feb. 7, 1944, in Ste. Genevieve, he was the son of the late Lillian (Ernst) and Eugene Nanney.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Rita (Morin) Nanney.

He is survived by three daughters: Kelly (Timothy) Streisel of Imperial, Lisa (Richard) Lewis of Festus and Caroline (Justin) League of Jacksonville, N.C.; a son: Shawn (Melissa) Nanney of Tacoma, Wash.; nine grandchildren: Jon Streisel, Christopher (Krysta) Streisel, Robert Lewis, Bradley Lewis, Dawson Mullen, Joseph (Kendra) Null, Dayne Robertson, Lillian Robertson and Atticus League; and six great-grandchildren: Ryder Lewis, Kora Lewis, Rhonan Streisel, Oden Streisel, Damon Streisel and Rhea Null.

He was also preceded in death by four siblings: Lillian (the late Thomas) Leitterman, Frances (the late Virginia) Nanney, Eugene Nanney Jr. and Mary (the late William) Dix.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral Mass at noon Monday, April 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Zac Povis. Interment with full military honors to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
