Rita Marianne Nanney, 81, of Festus died Dec. 4, 2025, at Scenic Nursing and Rehab Center in Herculaneum. Mrs. Nanney was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City. She was a retired licensed practical nurse who had worked for St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Crystal City, Festus Manor Nursing Center and the former Mountain View Nursing Home in Festus. She was an avid bowler in the leagues at Quonset Lanes and the former Thunderbird Lanes. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and solving word search puzzles. Born Sept. 3, 1944, in Lewiston, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Anne and Emilien Morin.
She is survived by her husband: Robert “Bob” Nanney; three daughters: Kelly (Timothy) Streisel of Imperial, Lisa (Richard) Lewis of Festus and Caroline (Justin) League of Jacksonville, N.C.; a son: Shawn (Melissa) Nanney of Tacoma, Wash.; a brother: Leo (Sarah) Morin of Caseyville, N.C.; nine grandchildren: Jon Streisel, Christopher (Krysta) Streisel, Robert Lewis, Bradley Lewis, Dawson Mullen, Joseph (Kendra) Null, Dayne Robertson, Lillian Robertson and Atticus League; and six great-grandchildren: Ryder Lewis, Kora Lewis, Rhonan Streisel, Oden Streisel, Damon Streisel and Rhea Null.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Albert Morin, Ben Morin and Edward Morin.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral Mass at noon Wednesday, Dec.10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Steve Lian. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
