Raymond H. "Ray" Dickhaner, 76, of St. Louis died June 28, 2026. Mr. Dickhaner dedicated his professional life to the practice of law. Admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1975, he practiced law for more than 50 years. Throughout his career, he served as legal counsel to numerous municipalities, fire protection districts and sewer districts throughout the region, including serving as attorney for Jefferson County 911. He served as the founding judge of the Jefferson County Municipal Court and later as associate circuit judge for Jefferson County from 2006 to 2014. He earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster College and his juris doctor and master of laws (LL.M.) in taxation from Washington University School of Law. He will be remembered for his integrity, wisdom, quiet strength and love for his family. Born March 4, 2950, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Richard and Betty Dickhaner.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy Dickhaner; two children: Jessica (Scott) Settlemoir and Dustin (Mandy) Ostrowski; four grandchildren: Alexandra (Zach) Shields, Hailee Settlemoir, Sienna Settlemoir and Abby Ostrowski; a brother: Harry (Jan) Dickhaner; two nieces: Kristin (Andy) and Mandy (Drew); five great-nieces and a great-nephew; many friends and other family members and numerous members of the legal community.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. Memorials may be made to Thorne Nature Experience in Longmont, Colo., where his granddaughter, Hailee, serves as development and communications manager.
