
Patricia Ann Swader, 84, of Festus died Sept. 15, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Swader worked as an RN for 50 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed cross stitching and crocheting. Born March 26, 1941, in Hays, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Virginia (Dralle) and Nicholas Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband: James Swader.
She is survived by two children: Samantha Heart of Festus and Elizabeth (John) Long of Lee’s Summit; three grandchildren: Austin Long, Jeff Long and Nathan Long; seven siblings: Ken (Margaret) Smith of Doniphan, Jim Smith of Doniphan, Steve (Marilyn) Smith of Doniphan, Mike Smith of Doniphan, Cecilia Bond of Muncie, Ind., Delores Cope of St. Louis and Christina Smith of St. Louis.
She also was preceded in death by two siblings: Tony Smith and Theresa Miller.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Stephen Lian. A private burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
